Jabra’s Link 380 USB-A manufacturer image shows the separate adapter used in this connection path. Identify your actual adapter before pairing the Evolve2 65, then select the Link device for microphone and speaker. A USB-C variant has a different connector.[1]
When an Evolve2 65 connects to your phone but not your work computer, first identify which connection the computer should use. Phone pairing does not pair the headset with a Jabra Link 380. Confirm the adapter is present, put the headset into pairing mode and use Jabra Direct to pair the intended headset with that adapter. Then select the adapter as the computer’s audio input and output.[2][3]
This is an Evolve2 65 plus Link 380 example. Evolve 65, Evolve2 65 Flex, other headset generations and Link DECT adapters have their own instructions. Read the headset and adapter labels before following button steps. A Link 380 USB-A manufacturer photo helps identify the type of separate adapter; a USB-C variant has a different connector.[1]
Keep three different connections separate
| Connection | Where it is established | What a successful connection does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Evolve2 65 to a phone | Phone Bluetooth menu after headset pairing mode | The computer’s Link adapter is paired. |
| Evolve2 65 to Link 380 | Jabra Direct pairing controls for the adapter | The meeting app selected the adapter’s microphone and speaker. |
| Evolve2 65 directly to computer Bluetooth | Computer Bluetooth settings, where supported | Full headset button/call-control integration is available. |
Jabra says included Link adapters and their devices are pre-paired out of the box. If an unchanged pair is working, there is no need to create a new pairing. A replacement adapter, reset or deliberately reassigned headset calls for a controlled re-pairing process.[2]
Jabra’s enterprise guidance warns that direct computer Bluetooth may provide audio without all softphone call-control features. Do not treat “paired” in the computer’s Bluetooth menu as proof that the Link path is working.[4]
Re-pair the intended headset with the intended adapter
Before starting, finish active calls, identify the right headset in a shared office and keep it near the computer. Insert the Link 380 into an appropriate USB port. Confirm it appears in Jabra Direct; if the adapter itself is missing, investigate USB detection first rather than repeatedly putting the headset into pairing mode.[2]
On the Evolve2 65, slide and hold the right-earcup On/Off switch toward the Bluetooth position until the indicator flashes blue and pairing guidance is heard if you are wearing it. Jabra’s product getting-started guide describes a three-second hold. Do not substitute another model’s reset buttons for pairing mode.[1][3]
Open the adapter’s pairing controls in Jabra Direct. Jabra’s FAQ describes Pairing, then Search under Available Bluetooth devices, followed by selecting the intended headset and Connect. Direct’s release notes say the Link pairing experience changed in 2026, so labels and layout can differ. Follow the displayed controls for the selected adapter; do not assume an older screenshot is the current UI.[2][8]
After the connection is established, choose the Link adapter for both speaker and microphone in the computer’s audio settings. Also check the selected paths inside the calling app. Use the Jabra USB and microphone diagnostic guide if pairing succeeds but sound or speech still fails.[2]
Use the symptom to choose the next comparison
| Observed symptom | Check next | Avoid this assumption |
|---|---|---|
| Link 380 is absent in Jabra Direct | Adapter identity and USB detection; compare a known working port outside an update | A headset reset can make a missing USB adapter appear. |
| Adapter appears, but the headset is not discovered | Correct headset, blue pairing indicator, power and range | A phone’s connected state proves adapter pairing. |
| The wrong nearby headset is offered | Match the physical headset and displayed device before Connect | Every device with a similar name belongs to the same user. |
| Connected, but a meeting is silent | OS and app input/output selection; local and two-way audio tests | Successful pairing selects every app’s devices. |
| Audio works, but answer/end does not | Exact model, Link path, softphone and supported integration | All native-Bluetooth connections offer identical call control. |
If a second connected phone is part of the problem, end its active call or media session and make a controlled comparison before reintroducing it. Jabra documents that this headset can connect to two paired devices at once, including a Link adapter and a phone, but plays audio from one at a time; it can connect to only one Link adapter at once.[7]
Treat headset reset and adapter reset as different actions
Resetting the Evolve2 65 clears its remembered devices and settings. If a reset is justified, Jabra instructs you to turn it on, stay off calls, and hold Multi-function plus Volume up on the right earcup together for three seconds, until the indicator turns pink and the announcement plays. You must then re-pair the phone and Link adapter.[5]
Resetting the Link adapter clears that adapter’s pairings and settings. Jabra’s documented route is to select the adapter in Direct, open Device > Device settings > Reset, then confirm the restore dialog with Apply. Check the selected device carefully: resetting the headset and resetting the adapter are not interchangeable. Re-pair afterward.[6]
Record the current configuration before either action and choose the smallest change that addresses the observed fault. Repeated resets erase useful context without testing whether a USB port, selected endpoint or app permission caused the failure.
Prove it survives the next normal reconnect
Use a non-sensitive two-way test call. Confirm you hear the other person through the headset and that they hear and repeat your phrase. End the call, perform the normal reconnect that originally failed—such as moving from a dock back to the desk—and repeat the test. This is a proposed acceptance test, not a guarantee that every future call will work.
Keep the headset and adapter model, firmware versions if known, Direct version, computer/OS, connection path and the failed-versus-passed test with the ticket. If firmware guidance is relevant, continue to the Jabra Direct update and recovery checklist. Frequently asked questions
Do I need to pair an Evolve2 65 and Link 380 from the same box?
Jabra says included devices and Link adapters are pre-paired. If they already connect normally, leave that pairing intact; re-pair when the connection is lost, reset or intentionally reassigned.
[2]Why does my Evolve2 65 connect to my phone but not the computer adapter?
How do I put the Evolve2 65 into pairing mode?
Why is the Link 380 missing from Jabra Direct?
Check that the intended adapter is connected and detected over USB before troubleshooting headset pairing. Compare an appropriate known working port outside an update; a headset reset does not test USB detection.
[2]Why do Jabra’s instructions say Pairing while my Direct app looks different?
Can native computer Bluetooth replace Link 380 without changing anything?
Do not assume the same behavior. Jabra warns that direct computer Bluetooth can provide audio while some softphone call-control features are unavailable. Verify the exact headset, computer and app requirements.
[4]Can this headset connect to a phone and Link adapter together?
Jabra documents two simultaneous device connections for this headset, such as a phone and Link adapter, with audio from one at a time. It can connect to only one Link adapter at once.
[7]Will these steps pair an Evolve2 65 Flex or a Link DECT adapter?
What will a reset erase?
What proves the pairing problem is resolved?
Confirm the adapter connection, then test both microphone and speaker in the actual app and a two-way call. Repeat the ordinary reconnect that originally failed and record its result; a paired indicator alone is incomplete.
